Overlook Skidmore Apartments is a six-story, 80-unit multifamily building located in Portland’s Overlook neighborhood. The design features a combination of fiber cement panels, metal accents, and warm wood-tone siding, which create a layered façade that reduces the perceived mass of the building and responds to the scale of the surrounding context. Large floor-to-ceiling windows and inset private balconies provide natural light and outdoor living opportunities for residents while visually connecting interior spaces to the street. The ground level is activated with a recessed entry and landscaped setback, enhancing pedestrian engagement and street-level presence. The building is articulated through vertical and horizontal shifts, material changes, and window placement, which create depth and visual interest while maintaining a cohesive, modern aesthetic.
